How it works
The valve draws a pocket of air into the top of the tank. Water passes through the air, which oxidizes iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide into particles, and the media bed filters them out. Every day the valve backwashes the bed, sends the trapped particles to drain and refreshes the air pocket.
Media benefits
- Removes hydrogen sulfide: no rotten-egg smell
- Stops black staining on fixtures and silverware
- Daily automatic backwash keeps the bed clean
- Air injection oxidizes iron, manganese and sulfur with plain air, so no chemicals or chlorine are added

Big-Capacity, Chemical-Free
The system treats hydrogen sulfide without any salt or chemical feed. A pocket of air maintained in the tank oxidizes dissolved sulfur into a filterable form that the deep media bed captures and holds. Control Flow Technology meters regeneration to actual household water use, so the unit backwashes only when needed — flushing trapped sulfur to drain and refreshing the air cushion. There are no feed pumps or chemicals to replenish at any point.
The large 14-inch diameter and 65-inch height provide the highest service flow in the residential sulfur range, ideal for large or multi-bath homes and wells with heavy rotten-egg odor. Installed at the point of entry, it delivers fresh water to every tap and shower in the home. Supplied by Water Softener Plus, this configuration arrives nearly complete; add the plumbing adapters that fit your supply lines for a clean install and efficient, low-maintenance performance over the years.
For the cleanest result, position the filter on a level base with room above the tank for valve service, near both the main line and a drain. Some homeowners with combined issues add this sulfur filter ahead of a water softener, treating odor first and hardness second. With no chemicals to handle and no feed pumps to prime, the unit settles into a quiet, reliable routine that keeps showers and drinking water free of that telltale rotten-egg smell.
As part of the Water Softener Plus catalog of well-water treatment equipment, this unit is chosen and assembled to deliver consistent, real-world results, helping you protect your plumbing investment while enjoying noticeably better water at every fixture in the house.
