How it works

The valve draws a pocket of air into the top of the tank. Water passes through the air, which oxidizes iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide into particles, and the media bed filters them out. Every day the valve backwashes the bed, sends the trapped particles to drain and refreshes the air pocket.

Katalox-Light® brings low pressure loss, high service and flow rates, and high bed loadings with reduced backwash frequency — operating up to 12 gpm per square foot and needing just 5 to 10 minutes of backwash at 5.5 gpm per square foot.
